Forest Innovation for Sustainable Solution for a Green World :
The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) theme is “In Solidarity for a Green World” is to enhancing ambition and enabling action for the global climate action and cooperation.
At COP26 in Glasgow (2021), over 130 countries signed the Glasgow Leaders’ Declaration on Forests and Land Use, committing to halt deforestation by 2030. While that agreement was a significant step forward, its implementation is still an ongoing challenge. In COP29 will provide an opportunity to assess progress and discuss next steps to ensure that the world meets the 2030 deadline. Forests play a crucial role in the global climate system. They act as carbon sinks, absorbing and storing carbon dioxide (CO₂) from the atmosphere, which helps mitigate the effects of climate change. Therefore, The Royal Forest Department (RFD), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Thailand which have the responsible in forest management of the country together with its forest partners purposed the discussion on “Forest Innovation for Sustainable Solution for a Green World” in order to contribute to the UNFCCC and sustainable development goals.
Innovation in forestry, from advanced technologies to community-based management, offers a wide array of solutions to ensure that forests continue to thrive for future generations. By embracing sustainable practices, empowering communities, and supporting policy initiatives, we can protect and restore the world’s forests, helping build a green, sustainable future for all.
Investing in forest innovation not only helps combat climate change but also ensures the continuation of the invaluable services that forests provide, from clean air and water to livelihoods and cultural heritage.
